Five reasons why working two days a week as a house cleaner was just right for me, someone who “just wanted to work a little.”

“I want to work just a little.”

The job I chose was working as a house cleaner two days a week.
When I got married and moved, I was a full-time housewife.

If I was going to start a new job, I wanted one that was as stress-free as possible. I’m not very good at socializing either. But I still wanted to earn some income.

That’s when I came across the job of a house cleaner. I’ve

always loved living and spending time at home, and I was curious about what it would be like to work in a job that involves being involved in people’s lives, so I decided to take the plunge.

When I actually started working, I found that there were many things that were better than I had imagined.

Today, I’ll write about five reasons why I, a former full-time housewife, felt that working as a house cleaner was just right for me.

① My relationship with my husband has changed.

When I was a full-time housewife, even when I was doing housework, I always had this feeling somewhere that “only my husband was working outside the home,” which sometimes made me feel a little guilty.

Since I started doing housework, my husband has started saying things like, “Do your best,” and “Don’t overdo it,” and a natural atmosphere of mutual care has been created.

That being said, I don’t intend to work so much that I neglect my household responsibilities.

For me, a pace of two or three days a week is just right, and it’s a way of working that makes it easy to balance with my family life.

② Gym fee is 0 yen! Get some exercise.

Housekeeping involves using your whole body more than you might think.

Vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, squatting and standing up… Depending on the job, I often break a sweat, and there are days when I feel like I’ve had a good workout.

When I was a full-time housewife, I sometimes only walked on days when I went shopping, but since starting housekeeping, I’ve naturally developed a habit of moving my body. It

suits me very well, as I’m not good at exercise. And two to three days a week is just right for me to concentrate and work actively.

③ Work finishes around 4 PM.

When I was at home, there were many days when I’d suddenly realize, “Wow, it’s already evening!”

My housekeeping jobs are about 2-3 hours each.

Even if I do one job in the morning and one in the afternoon, I usually finish work around 4 PM.

On the way home, I can stop by the supermarket to do some shopping or prepare dinner with plenty of time to spare.

Being able to work while still having plenty of time for my family is what I love about this job.

④ My housekeeping skills have improved dramatically.

I received training from a house cleaning service company and have since gained experience cleaning in over 100 homes.

Because housework is a daily task, becoming more efficient at it truly makes life easier.

What surprised me the most was window cleaning.

Previously, I thought windows couldn’t be cleaned without special detergents, but I learned that even with just water and a rag, you can get them perfectly clean if you know the key points.

Being able to maintain clean windows at home, something I used to dislike, is a huge improvement.

I also learned many other things useful in everyday life, such as how to clean efficiently and how to work effectively.

I feel that housekeeping skills are a lifelong asset ✨

⑤ I can work alone and concentrate.

I’m not very good at working in a company, and I’m not very good at socializing.

Housekeeping work involves mostly working alone, so it’s a job where I don’t have to worry about workplace relationships as much.

Of course, there is communication with clients, but it’s mainly necessary.

It suited me very well because I like to work quietly and independently.

In conclusion

Working as a housekeeper suited my lifestyle better than I expected. The work pace was also manageable and easy to manage.

I think it’s an easy way to try for stay-at-home mothers who want to start working a little.
